ABOUT DEATH DIGITAL
Dedicated to crafting the highest quality mobile accessories at affordable prices, Death Lens strives to provide accessible tools to help you film like a pro and make your footage look crispy.
Over the past few years, high end cameras and cell phones have quickly collided into essentially the same product. In most everyone’s pocket lies a phone with a camera that is far more powerful than high end cameras from the past decade. In order to help make our mobile devices more useful, we have developed the world’s widest and easiest to use fisheye lens. In our past a group of 5 or more would share a VX1000 and legit fisheye setup. The struggle to get footage and share footage was difficult to say the least. Now we hope to pay our struggle forward by providing a lens that anyone can afford and anyone can use with their very own cell phone. With a nod to the past and our vision on the future we bring you the Death Lens.

USER GUIDE
FOR BEST RESULTS SHOOTING DEATH VIDEO
1. IT’S ALL IN THE GRIP
2. TURN OFF IMAGE STABILIZATION
Download and use the “BLACKMAGIC CAM” App or similar to shoot video. We also offer a "DEATHLENS" app but it is not owned by us, and does not have the many extra bells and whistles of more professional apps. The main goal is to turn OFF your phone’s image stabilization to eliminate the bouncy vignette (black ring) that can appear around the edges of the footage. Using your phone’s built in camera app will result in a bouncy look on all footage. Using an alternative app for filming allows you tap in to necessary features like locking focus, exposure, and white balance which keeps your footage looking sharp and crispy.
3. ZOOM IN SLIGHTLY TO MINIMIZE VIGNETTE (BLACK RING)
To really fine tune your shots to match a VX1000 with MK1 lens, you can zoom in slightly before you hit record to push the vignette to just the corners of your shot. For added bonus, try shooting in 4:3 to really drive home the VX1000 look.

**WE DO NOT ADVISE OPENING YOUR LENS
Our lenses are sealed with glue during manufacturing and are not designed to be opened. But if you are the type that feels the need; we would suggest you be careful, take note of element order and orientation, and be sure to use a clean and lint free microfiber cloth. Avoid any fingerprints and dust from being trapped inside. Any inner element can fit in either orientation, and assembling them in the incorrect orientation will result in a blurry image.
Fig 1
This is the lens casing that holds all the lens components.
Fig 2
This is the smallest piece in the lens and must sit as deep inside FIG 1 as possible and must remain level. Ensure that the thicker side is facing down. If you reassemble the lens and the resulting image is blurry, simply flip this piece and the image should now be crisp.
Fig 3
This is a plastic O-Ring, it may be either black or white in color. This ring must sit rounded-end down in order to hold FIG 2 as deep as possible. (FIG 2 does not go inside FIG 3)
Fig 4
This component goes in next with the flat side facing up and the concave side facing FIG 3. Be sure that this component sits level and snug inside of FIG 1.
Fig 5
This is the outer lens component, it should sit level and flush on FIG 1.
Fig 6
This is the outermost ring that holds the entire lens together. Be sure to screw this down as tight as possible to avoid it coming loose and coming apart. If the ring is loose, it will cause in the inner components to rattle. (Alternatively, you can add a dab or 2 of super glue, AFTER you’ve ensured the lens is set up correctly and not blurry, to keep the outermost ring from loosening. Apply the glue ONLY to FIG 1, NOT FIG 6.)
